Welcome to our inaugural Awards

We have been delighted by the enthusiasm shown, the number of entries and the outstanding quality of the work being showcased. Our fantastic judges have commented on the challenge they faced in selecting the winners. It was a tight run thing.

The panels arrived at a shortlist of 30 projects and practitioners that clearly stood out, and then began a second phase of judging involving presentations and interviews. Some of those were face-to-face, while others used Skype and Facetime to call in, including one finalist from their holiday in Cyprus.

The CIPD Wales awards were promoted as “your chance to shine”. Tonight, we recognise and celebrate the outstanding, ground-breaking and sometimes career-defining work that goes on in Wales.

As the world of work continues to evolve, so do our practices. Just as last year’s CIPD Wales conference provided a platform to explore and test new thinking, methodology and the science of people management, so these awards celebrate those new and innovative practices in action.

Congratulations to our ten fantastic, and very deserving winners. Congratulations also to the 20 finalists who came so close. And congratulations to everyone who took the time, and had the confidence in their work to enter.

Events like this take a lot of organising and resources to bring together. I want to thank our sponsors for supporting CIPD Wales and these awards, not only financially but with time and energy to promote entries and support the judging.

Enjoy your evening – you very much deserve it.
