Delivering Better Outcomes for Employee Health and Wellbeing
“Helping Hands was launched as an internal telephone support service supported by five trained volunteers in 2005. We knew this project would have to change preconceived ideas held by the Corporate Management Team and become a viable service.
By early 2014 take up had decreased to an all-time low. The easiest option would have been to disband it, however a range of alternative workshops were identified which would focus on both physical and mental health, exercise and social inclusion. Most of which could be attended in works time. Little did we know that the development plans initiated would later fit the 6 elements of the Helping Great Britain Work Well Strategy!
Now in its 12th year the visibility of the volunteer service has increased beyond all recognition into a team of 25 volunteers with scope to recruit an additional 20 volunteers. In first six months of 2016 alone 1,075 employees attended workshops, including 53 at first the HH Summer Event which was focused around families and their children.”
